The Black Tail Bocon is a hand-tied peacock bass snack fly, a bold silhouette pattern that stands out in most scenarios. It mimics a number of baitfish that feature a black tail in jungle and ocean waters. Among them is the bocon, the name for yamu or yatorana in Colombia.

This fly triggers very aggressive strikes throughout the day.

Specs: 6" long, 4/0 hook.

Made for peacock bass, and also a proven pattern for golden dorado, roosterfish and tarpon.

WHY THIS JUNGLE STREAMER FLY

Streamers can be fished through the whole water column. All it takes is choosing the right line to find predators at different depths, depending on the type of water, the kind of day or the specific species.
Orinoco Flies Jungle Streamers are designed to be:
* Natural-looking.
* Easy to cast.
* Water pushers. They move water as they travel.
* Highly visible.
* Lively. Jerky movement that changes with the speed of your strip.

HOW TO FISH IT

Gear
* Rod: 8 to 12 weight
* Line: floating, sinking, sinking tip or intermediate
* Leader: 20 to 50 lb, 6 ft max, or longer if the fish are a bit leader-shy
Where to fish it
* Cast to the banks. They're always productive because of the baitfish they concentrate.
* Work the confluence of two currents, in still or moving water.
* Cast into the field of view of a laid-up or rolling fish.
* Work near bait balls and feeding frenzies.
* Cast close to structure.
* Search deep areas. In jungle lagoons, if you snag leaves from the bottom, you've gone too deep. Counting while the line sinks helps. That way you can run the fly just above the bottom and through potholes that may hold a predator.
Choosing your line
* Floating: create surface disturbance with the fly to trigger a strike.
* Intermediate: keeps the fly in a given zone longer.
* Sinking tip, 4 to 6 ips: it can be the only line you need. Strip fast to fish the shallows, or let it sink to fish deeper and cover much more water.
Fly color
Water color, the kind of day or the baitfish present can decide the color.
Pro tips
* The farther you cast, the more water you cover.
* Short, steady stripping at a consistent, non-erratic rhythm draws most BIG FISH strikes.
