Arapaima Fly - Burgundy Head
The Arapaima Fly Burgundy Head is a 7" hand-tied streamer with a deep burgundy head and a flowing body designed with a synthetic flat wing saddle hackle to push water and get noticed in low-visibility jungle waters.
Tied on a heavy-duty 6/0 hook to handle the crushing take of an arapaima, this pattern has been personally tested in the Amazon basin.
Specs: 7" long, 6/0 hook.
Beyond arapaima, it's also effective for peacock bass, golden dorado, wolf fish and other large jungle predators.

WHY THIS ARAPAIMA FLY
Arapaima are not high-energy predators that chase down their prey, especially the big ones. They are slow and opportunistic: when something gets close, they inhale it with the least possible effort.
That's why this fly is built to move water.
* Lots of movement. It pushes water so a slow, ambush-minded fish feels it when it's close.
* Built-in turbulence. The flat synthetic saddle hackle stirs the water as it moves.
* Easy to see. Its silhouette stands out in dark or deep water.
HOW TO FISH IT
* If they're laid up or rolling, cast the fly into those areas.
* Look for drop-offs.
* Cast close to structure and fallen trees.
* Search deep areas.
* Banks that aren't too shallow and hold baitfish can be very productive.
* Long casts to cover more water, and very slow stripping, are key.
