Theres two species in the Orinoco bassin, Colossoma macropomum, which is darker in color and a bigger head and Piaractus brachypomus which is silverish. They both reach big sizes of up to 60 pounds. They are omnivorus and will eat fruits and seeds or will charge schools of preyfish. Not very common to catch them in artificial lures all though they do attack them, more common while bait fishing. This fish are brutes, they will strike hard and fight harder.
