Bocon River

The Bocon River is a tributary of the Inirida river.

Its waters are reddish as it’s so rich in tannins and even small creeks along it’s shore lines are red as well.
It’s one of the finest rivers to fish for big peacock bass. There are two species in its waters, Barred peacock bass and Butterfly peacock bass.
Not a river of high numbers but a river of big fish. Average size is 6 to 14 pounds, fish over 20 pounds and some topping the 30 pound mark have been reported.
There is a special characteristic of this fish in this waters, they are extremly strong and powerfull. This fish are supercharged, sometimes you’ll see a small peacock hit your fly or lure and then you will have a lot of doubts wether it was a small one or a bigger one while you fight it.
There is also Payara and Yamu in this waters as well as different species of catfish to be bait fished.
Fishing in this river is strictly camping, there are no fishing lodges along its waters and it is far away from the main town of Puerto Inirida.
This river runs through several Indian communities and permission from the local tribes is needed in order to fish.
Fishing guides are all native local indians with extensive knowledge of the rivers.
After arriving to Puerto Inirida a trip by boat is taken to access the camping sites in each river.
